The purpose of Women’s Racing Association: To create a supportive environment for women to learn to race or refine their racing skills.
Enrollment Form
The Program:
- Rent an Ideal 18 or use your own
- Sign up as a skipper, crew or both
- WRA member boats will start with the Ideal 18 fleet
- A volunteer chase/coach boat will be provided on Thursdays
- Chalk talks at the RYC Burgee Bar after Thursday races
WRA Ideal 18 Rental Program:

RYC Members: $325 per person Non-Members: $495 per person

· Four club boats are dry sailed and are reserved for WRA members each Thursday, beginning May 6.
Saturdays/Regattas/any other time
· Call the RYC Dock Master (342-5511 x 23) to reserve a boat. Boats are reserved on a first come/first serve basis.
· Boats may also be taken out for practice time.
Certification requirements:
Each rental boat must have at least 1 certified user. All WRA members in the rental program are expected to become certified users, demonstrating competence launching and hoisting an Ideal 18.
WRA Boat Owner Program:
Costs: $25 per boat
Scoring:
1. Women’s scoring will be for the Thursday Ideal 18 Club Racing Series only.
2. Skippers are scored separate from crew. (This allows flexible pairing of participants)
3. Series: You must participate in 60% of the races in a series to qualify for the series.
4. Overall: You must participate in 60% of all club races to qualify for the overall.
· Two perpetual trophies:
i. Best Overall WRA Skipper
ii. Best Overall WRA Crew
5. If you do not start a race you will be scored as the number of boats in the WRA fleet for that series plus one point
6. If you do not finish a race you will be scored as the number of WRA boats starting the race plus one point.
7. If there are more participants than available boats we will rotate people into boats using the committee boat and/or the chase boat.
8. If you sit out a race due to rotation you receive the average of your series scores for that race.
9. If there are not enough participants to pair all women and WRA boats are unfilled then men are permitted to sub as crew only.

1. Thursday night races start at 6:30 pm; arrive at 5 pm to rig boats. Leave the dock no later than 5:30. Plan on 3 races on Thursday nights.
2. Saturday races begin at 10:30 am; arrive at 9 am to rig boats. Leave the dock between 9:30 – 9:45. Plan on 5 races on Saturdays. No race starts after 1pm.
