Junior Yacht Club

To encourage interests in yachts and sailing for young people, ages 13 to 18.  To promote the principles of seamanship, navigation, and the sailing traditions of the Rochester Yacht Club through its many instructional and social activities.



The Rochester Junior Yacht Club (RJYC) was founded to promote and encourage young people's sailing and racing interests.  Membership is open to individuals aged 13-18 and is composed mainly of RYC members' children.

Members of the RJYC may choose to join the RYC High School Racing Team.  This group participates in team sailing in the club's 420's and is eligible to sail in national high school regattas. In addition, RJYC members include many active members of RYC's Laser fleet and are annually hosts to a Youth Regatta sailed in Lasers and Optimists. RJYC members have competed in Rolex events, the Leiter Cup, US Women's Open, CORK, Empire State Games, 420 Nationals, Lightning Jr. North Americans and numerous regional regattas.
