Great news for RYC! We have been invited by the New York Yacht Club to participate in the 2010 Qualifier Regatta in September in Newport, RI.
This is an incredible opportunity for RYC – only 26 yacht clubs were invited. The top three finishers (Sonars and possibly J/22s) will be invited to the 2011 Invitational Cup sailed in Swan 42s in September 2011 against 20 or so yacht clubs from around the world. The mere fact that we are invited is a great honor and privilege. The Board approved a team selection committee to ensure we comply with all the rules and deadlines for our entry.
The Committee is chaired by Hank Stuart, with Fleet Captain Eric Voss, Vice Commodore Keith Burhans, Rear Commodore Tom Kankoski and Past Commodore Skip Shumway.
The Committee is charged with determining the selection process (ISAF Class 1 Amateurs only), training program and fund raising strategy to enable RYC to be successful.
